About Renee
With more than three decades in the publishing industry, including developmental editing, and literary agent, I have helped writers hone their craft, and realize their dreams of being published.
I began my career at Harcourt Brace in 1993, where I helped build a very successful subrights and licensing division, along with optioning book rights for film and television.
I then spent a few years at Simon & Schuster, before joining the CW Television Network as a book scout and story analyst for the scripted division, where I found books with potential for television adaptation.
When I became a literary agent in 2014, I spent a lot of time providing editorial feedback for the submissions I felt weren’t ready for representation. Even if the book wasn’t right for me, I tried to provide authors with actionable advice to help improve their writing, rather than a basic “no thank you”.
Many of these writers would later email me, letting me know the changes I suggested resulted in securing an agent. I soon realized providing editorial direction and feedback felt deeply fulfilling, and an excellent way to utilize my years of knowledge and experience to help others.
